American Legion (Since 1919)
The American Legion works to make mental health support less stigmatized, help veterans get the benefits they deserve, and prevent veteran suicide in the community. American Legion also supports veterans in:

Wounded Warrior Project (Since 2003)
The Wounded Warrior Project supports veterans who were injured in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. Its main purpose is to support veterans and their families with:
- Long-term recovery,
- Career advice
- Mental health services
DAV (Disabled American Veterans) (Since 1920)
DAV has been supporting veterans and their families in receiving the services so they can live with dignity and respect. It helps them get:
- Medical care
- Find jobs
- Access to benefits they deserve
Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) (Since 1994)
TAPS helps families grieving the loss of a military service member. It provides 24/7 support through a helpline, peer networks, and counseling. The organization also manages different events to help families heal, such as

Youth Villages (Since 1986)
Youth Villages helps children and families with mental health and behavioral problems. It provides treatment programs, works to strengthen family bonds, and supports thousands of kids and families each year in 24 states.
A Door of Hope (Since 2011)
A Door of Hope is a foster care organization. It supports families and provides safe, nurturing homes for children in need. It focuses on offering care to children facing difficult circumstances.

From 2020 to 2023, over $64.4 billion in disability benefits were secured for veterans, along with $30.4 billion more in 2024 alone. More than 1 million veterans receive help each year, and over 25,000 service members are guided through the transition to civilian life.
The Wounded Warrior Project helped 69% of veterans improve their mental and emotional health, while 50% of caregivers reported reduced depression. TAPS has supported over 100,000 survivors, helped 9,611 new survivors in 2023, and connected families to $561 million in education benefits.
For youth and families, 90% of discharged children moved into stable living situations, and 97% remained in school, graduated, or found employment. Organizations like A Door of Hope helped 2,361 children through foster care, with 248 adopted and 316 reunited with their families.
