Melanotan 2 is a synthetic melanotropic peptide. It non-selectively mimics the action of melanocortin peptides. These are natural hormones involved with pigmentation, sexual functioning, energy homeostasis, the immune system, inflammation, and the cardiovascular system. Much like melanotan I, melanotan II stimulates the production of eumelanin, causing a darker appearance to the skin.
