Description
Orexin B
Orexin B (also called hypocretin-2) is a neuropeptide produced in the hypothalamus that helps regulate wakefulness, alertness, and energy balance. It primarily interacts with the OX₂ receptor and plays a key role in maintaining normal sleep-wake cycles. Deficiency in Orexin B has been linked to narcolepsy and excessive daytime sleepiness. In addition, it is involved in appetite regulation, reward pathways, and sympathetic nervous system activity.
