Glutathione is a tripeptide comprised of three amino acids (cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine) present in most mammalian tissue. It acts as an antioxidant, a free radical scavenger, and a detoxifying agent.
The role of glutathione can reach beyond its traditional role as an antioxidant. Evidence from recent published studies suggests it can be a helpful adjunct to muscle-building protocols, and as a result, potentially reduce the risk for various age-related health issues.
It may additionally reduce oxidative stress. Oxidative stress occurs when there’s an imbalance between the production of free radicals and the body’s ability to fight them off.
